In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn about (and engage in portions of) a mini unit that integrates science and language arts to study an important topic, water pollution. The unit includes: the use of several trade books; a Nearpod presentation; a Jamboard activity; an inquiry activity in which students design, build, and test a device to help with the pollution problem on land and in the ocean; and writing an opinion essay. Supporting documents, including assessment rubrics, will be shared for easy implementation in the classroom.
